PCOS

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder characterized by hormonal imbalance. 1 in 10 women have PCOS, with 70% remaining undiagnosed. Symptoms of PCOS include acne, irregular menstrual cycles, ovarian cysts, and weight gain.

These health conditions are induced by overproduction of androgens, or male hormones, such as testosterone. Testosterone is released when GnRH is produced by the pituitary-gland, signaling the production of LH and consequently testosterone.

Causes of PCOS include genetics, stress, diet, and environmental pollution.

PCOS is the leading cause of infertility in women. Though there is currently no cure, studies have scientifically shown the benefits of phytotherapy, aka plant medicine, in treating symptoms.
